My mother, father, and their siblings always dressed up for gatherings. My parents, a whole generation older than the parents of my peers, moved to New York City in the late 50s (during the large migration).  The rooftops (in Spanglish, el “roofo”) were popular backdrops to showcase memories for every occasion.  With every gathering, they dressed to impress and did so by making their outfits. Far from the gorgeous backdrops of the island, they chose to take their photos from the roof, away from the run-down buildings, and up close to the sky and its endless limits. Now, that is the Boribougie vibe.  Live your best life no matter where you are, have faith in the almighty to lead the way, and you will manifest a brighter future. These were key for a positive state of mind:
